Stumptown Comics Fest 2012!!!

I'm exhibiting at Stumptown Comics Fest again this year! I'll have with me the new Find My Light book as well as copies of Don't Follow Me, making it's first appearance at PDX. I had such a blast last year and I know it's going to be even more fun this year. I'm excited to get re-acquainted with the new friends and Stumptown pals that I met last year. Also, this time around I'll be traveling there with some NY friends, Aya Kakeda and Sara Varon! Sara has a bit of history with Portland so it will be interesting to explore the city with her perspective. I'm so stoked to have some traveling companions this time around! Find us at table B-18 this weekend!

Attempting to pack in my tiny room!

All new postcards, just in time for Stumptown!

Also, there is going to be an after party at Pony Club Gallery on Sunday night after the Fest. The Ghost Show will still be hanging that night, be sure to stop by! I'll definitely be there. :)

"Ghost Show" at Pony Club

I recently made some new prints for this show! "Ghost Show" at Pony Club Gallery in Portland. It opens April 5th (tomorrow!) so if you're in PDX area, you don't want to miss this. I got to meet some of the Pony Club folks when I visited Portland for the first time last year and they are total sweethearts! I'm heading to PDX again for Stumptown this year (more details about that soon) and I am definitely gonna stop by the gallery once I'm there later this month.

Here are some snapshots of the ghost prints on the rack:

LA zine fest Recap

I loved LA! I was there for a full week, seeing old friends and doing the tabling thing at LA Zine Fest. There was a huge turn out at the festival, it was overwhelming! I ended up selling most of the stuff I brought, which meant I did not bring nearly enough, which is good. :)

me at my table

my table FULL of stuff

my table 2 hours before the end of the day! By the end, ALL of the prints and totes were gone, every mini accordion I brought gone, as well as every copy I brought of Pink Lemonade and rainbow & i books.

Other stuff I did in LA: lots of dog-petting.

Jon & Deisel

dog high-five

Ate lots of Mexican food
Pupusas and watermelon lemonade at Silverlake farmer's market.

shrimp tacos at El 7 Mares. I also recommend Ricky's Fish Tacos nearby!

Took a road trip to Point Dume....
...where we spotted dolphins!

I did a comic reading at Home Room the night before the festival. I got to read 2 things, including my newest story "Find my Light". I got a really good response from my reading, people seem to especially love the Rainbow & i presentation with the Beach House song "Holy Dances". All in all a very memorable week in LA. :)

BCGF + GR Post-it show

I have a placement again at this year's Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Festival! Last year was overwhelming, with such a crazy turn out, and this year will be amazing as well. The festival will take place on Saturday, December 3rd, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, with panels and satellite events going on at Union Pool nearby. For the incredible list of exhibitors and other details check out the BCGF site.

I did some post-it art for a show at Giant Robot LA, which opens December 10 and will remain on display until the end of the month for the shopping season. Doing these post-its were a lot of fun! With dozens and dozens of cartoonists involved, if you're in the area be sure not to miss this!

Whitney Museum's Zine Day event.

Here are a couple of pics from the Whitney Museum's zine day event, organized by Desert Island, which took place a couple Saturdays ago, October 15. It was a kid friendly event so the museum did a cool project where all of the participating artists had a stack of screenprinted individual black and white illustration available (courtesy of the Museum) for attendees to collect for free and staple into their very own coloring book, pretty neat!

APE and San Francisco Recap

San Francisco was beautiful as always! The weather was perfect this time around. APE was so much fun this year, I thought it was my 4th consecutive year but Jon Vermilyea told me it's my 5th?? I am completely losing track. APE is always awesome and I don't think I will ever stop exhibiting. Here is my recap of the trip, photo diary style:

I had the pleasure of hosting two lovely young ladies this time around. Pictured here are my friends Jess and Diana on top of a hill.

We got tacos at one of my all time favorite Mexican places, El Metate in Potrero/Mission area.

Here is Jon and Hilary playing some pinball at the Lasp Gasp warehouse.

Jess and Diana help me set up my table!

Post-APE dim sum with my ladies!

I did really well at APE! I sold out every advanced copy I brought of my new "don't follow me." I will have more copies available next weekend at Whitney Museum's very own Zine Day(!) as well as Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Fest coming up in December in Brooklyn, NY.
