Sometimes the sketch is pretty much traced for the final outcome.I did that one in my sketchbook on a plane ride to Chicago.
Usually the idea is taken down in tiny thumbnail and the final image is worked on from start to finish.

I love your "Pink Lemonade" comic very much. I always glance at it when on the 5th floor at SVA. And looking at your thumbnails and sketches are really fun. Seeing the artist's process is very interesting. I'm also very much looking forward to Orifice when it starts up again (which I hope is soon!)
